Puppies

Johnathan's dog, Tess, had 11 puppies on Saturday and Sunday. Two of them decided they would like to go to puppy heaven, so now she only has 9. They are too cute. I would love to have one, but I just don't know that I am ready for all the cleaning up that I would have to do! Here are a couple of pictures of Tess and her little babies!

They are growing already, and should be ready in about 8 weeks!

Run The Yellow Brick Road

On Saturday, Creekside Elementary School in New Bern hosted a Run The Yellow Brick Road 5K/1 mile walk in memory of my Aunt Nancy. Aunt Nancy, as I have said before, lost her battle with cancer on June 11 of last year. Two of her favorite things were The Wizard of Oz and butterflies, so that is why this event was called Run The Yellow Brick Road. All the money that was raised went towards the making of a butterfly garden at Creekside, and then donated to the American Cancer Society. Below are some pictures of Saturday's event. It was very nice and meaningful. Aunt Nancy would loved to have been there!!

Graduation

Allyson Lake and Briley graduated from High School on Friday. Friday afternoon we had a cook-out for them at the Hussey's. We had hamburgers, hot dogs, and cake. That night at 7, they received their diplomas from North Lenoir High School. It was a very nice ceremony. Here are a couple of pictures from Friday.

Bachelorette

Who in the world will she pick?!?

This season of the Bachelorette is not real great to me. I have not been able to get into it like I normally do. Don't get me wrong, I still watch it every Monday night, but I am just not sure about the whole situation. These boys are crazy! I do not have a favorite, which is weird, because normally by this point I do. I guess I will just have to continue watching it to see if I can choose who she will pick. Who is your favorite? Maybe you can help me decide who mine is!!

Butterfly Garden

Tuesday afternoon Brinson Elementary showed off the Butterfly Garden the kindergartners created in memory of my Aunt Nancy. She lost her battle with cancer in June of last year, and absolutely loved butterflies. I wasn't able to attend so here are some pictures my daddy took!

This sign will go above the garden on the brick wall

Poppy Seed Chicken

Tonight I cooked Poppy Seed Chicken for the first time. I had tried it before at my mom's house, but tonight was the first time I cooked it myself. I have to say it was pretty good. Me and the girls at work are always trying to find new recipes to cook, and I will have to make sure I share this with them. Visit Kelly's recipe blog, for more great recipes, this is where I found the Poppy Seed Chicken!
I didn't take this picture, it's off of Kelly's blog
Poppy Seed Chicken
  • 4 Chicken Breast (I like a lot of chicken)
  • 2 cans of Cream of Chicken Soup
  • 16 oz. Sour Cream
  • Poppy seeds (I used 1 Tablespoon)
  • Stick of Butter
  • Ritz Crackers (I used 1 pack from the box)

  • Boil the chicken and then cut in small pieces
  • Mix together the chicken, cream of chicken, sour cream, and poppy seeds; put into casserole dish
  • Melt the butter, and put on top of casserole
  • Crush the crackers and put on top
  • Bake on 350 for 20-30 minutes

ENJOY!!!
