Memorial Day Weekend

I was east bound on Friday to the beach for Memorial Day weekend. This is the weekend that beach season officially begins. I am so excited it is finally my favorite time of year...Summer!!!
We can't go to the beach with Grandma without playing the card game 7 Up. Here is a picture of us all playing 7 Up Friday night.
Saturday morning we got up and cooked bacon, eggs, and cinnamon rolls.
Here is Johnathan eating the eggs Grandma cooked. They are his favorite!
Dad laying in his 1979 hammock. He was so excited to get that thing hung up.
Sunday was Stacey's birthday so we had everyone down to the beach to celebrate. It was a lot of fun having everyone hanging out on the beach for the day.

Connor jumping the waves...He loved the water!
After spending all day on the beach, Stacey requested Mr. Tommy fix his popular ribs for her birthday. Do you think we had enough meat on the grill?!?
Stacey eating her some ribs!!
Hope you had a great birthday Stacey!!!

Thank you to all the men and women who fight for our freedom!
Hope you all had a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend!

DWTS Winner

Kim and Derik took home the trophy last night on Dancing with the Stars.
I wasn't very excited with the outcome of DWTS last night. I was really hoping Erin Andrews would win, but knew she probably wouldn't. Kim was a great dancer, and deserved to win, she just wasn't my choice.
Did you all watch the finale? Did your favorite win...if not who did you want to win?!?

Beach

Friday I got off work early so Allyson Lake and I headed to the beach. I love this time of year!! We layed out for a little while on Friday, and then she wanted to go shopping. We hit up the TJ Maxx, Ross, Wal-mart and then met dad at K-Mart. If you are in need of cute cotten dresses, go to Ross...they have a lot of cute ones. Saturday morning we got up and had breakfast. Soon after we were headed to get some sun. The weather was perfect...and the ocean was so calm.
I guess since the ocean was calm, all the boats were out fishing. I looked one time and there were over 20 boats out in front of us. Those fish must have been biting.
I just love it this time of year when I can have my feet in the sand!!
Allyson Lake, taking in the sun. She is darker than she has ever been...which means she is darker than me right now, and that's not cool!!!
Dad and me working on our tan too, trying to catch up with AL!
Hope you all had a great weekend. I can hardlly wait to get back to the beach!!!

Retirement Party

Last night Brad's family had a retirement party for his Aunt Anne. She has been teaching in the public school system for 39 years. We had a really good time. Some of the children she taught were able to attend...which were her 2 sons and her nieces and nephews. Could you imagine having to teach your own family, or having your mom or aunt as your English teacher?!? I sure couldn't imagine having my mom in the 3rd grade! Each of them shared with the group what they learned when she was their teacher...sweet and funny stories. Mrs. Judy, Brad's mom, sang a song that she had made up, and read a story about "Honk If You Love Teachers!" Both the song and the story were hilarious. Here are just a couple of pictures from the party!!

We had a fun time, even with our silly glasses on!!

Pig Pickin' and River

Saturday morning Katie, mom, and I headed to Kinston to search for a chair for Katie's nursery. You know since we went to Kinston we went to eat at our favorite...Pizza Villa. Katie was able to find a chair that she wanted for Anna Kate's nursery. She is going to be one lucky little girl.

Brad and Bryant have been talking about having a Pig Pickin' for a few weeks. Well, it finally happened Saturday afternoon. We had a lot of fun hanging out with all of our friends. Here are some pictures from the Pig Pickin'!

Brad after a long day of entertaining! Sunday afternoon we went to the river to spend Mother's Day with Brad's mom. We had so much fun. These days, wherever Brad and I go, look who goes with us!! This is him resting on the way to the river. Jacques has never been swimming before, so we were excited to see how he would do. He absolutely loved it. I believe we have a little fish in the family!!
After supper, Brad decided he wanted to try out Brittany's kayak. This was funny to me, especially when he was trying to get started. He did well, and now considers himself a pro!!The SunsetHope you all had a great Mother's Day weekend!!

Aunt Nancy and Beach

This weekend we had the 2nd Annual "Run The Yellow Brick Road." This is a 5K that is held in New Bern, in honor of my Aunt Nancy. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. As I have probably said before one of Aunt Nancy's favorite things was the Wizard of Oz, that is why this event is called "Run The Yellow Brick Road."

Here is everyone as they were waiting for the awards ceremony.
Another favorite of Aunt Nancy's was butterflies.
Here is the butterfly garden that her school created in memory of her.
Allyson Lake and Me.
After we left New Bern we headed down to the beach. It was a perfect weekend to be down there. Saturday afternoon we went out on the boat and then ate supper with Mom, Joe, Aunt Al, Uncle Ray, and their friends. On Sunday, Allyson Lake and I laid out on the beach. It felt great...the wind was blowing just enough to keep you from getting too hot.

Our view on Sunday...LOVE IT!
I just had to write my name in the sand.
What a great weekend we had.
Here is Mr. Jacques...He sure has grown a lot!
Hope ya'll are having a great week!
